Galloping the Globe – Great Britain
We also enjoyed poetry from A.A. Milne’s “Now We Are Six”.

We also read the biography of Beatrix Potter and enjoyed this classic! |
Field Trip! We decided to visit a neat little store in the town we live near. It is a store that sells all products from Great Britain, mostly, England. We allowed the children to each pick a treat, but it had to be something different, cultural, and something they’d never had before. It was a fun outing.

Autumn Blooms… |
As part of our study, we looked at Irish Dancing and our kids particularly enjoyed watching Lord of the Dance. Here, Audrey colors a print-out of an Irish Dancer.

The recipe for the Scones is here.
Some of the videos we used (please, always screen any videos to ensure they are appropriate for your children and be careful surfing YouTube…):
London – ‘greatest city in the world’
Traditional Irish Dancing and music
Michael Flatley’s Feet of Flames – adding: view with caution. There are parts of this I did not show my children, but other parts were beautiful, exciting, and really inspired a respect and love of irish dancing in our children, even my eldest son, who generally couldn’t care less about music or dancing. (Ha!)

I am thoroughly enjoying your Galloping the Globe series. I am a year out on homeschooling and am gleaning a lot from you. Looks like you and the kids have so much fun!

Thanks 🙂 That's the whole reason I share our homeschooling on here – just so others can maybe get some ideas! I have been so blessed by other homeschooling blogs and have also 'gleaned' from them too! thanks for following along! We're in the middle of Italy right now (figuratively speaking… hehe)

Hi from HHH!
What a lovely study of Britain. One of the things I like most about homeschooling is the ability to go into an in-depth study of a subject. I like how you incorporated all of the literature, cooking and a field trip!

This is a great post with lots of resources. Please consider adding it to the website "Look! What We Did!" This is a site dedicated to home school blog posts. In this way other families can see and be inspired what is going on in the homes of other home educators. I hope you'll join us there.
